From “Nice to Haves” to Core Requirements. A Holistic Approach to Deforestation and Conversion-Free Supply Chains

Eliminating the conversion and degradation of all natural ecosystems and protecting Indigenous rights are central to achieving deforestation and conversion-free (DCF) supply chains, yet these issues are often treated as ancillary by companies focused primarily on deforestation. This is partly due to the urgent challenge that deforestation alone presents, but it can also stem from a lesser understanding of the scale and impact of these issues and the emerging pathways to address them.

Pure Strategies brought this conversation to a webinar hosted by Trellis Group. Our Senior Sustainability Advisor, David Chaffin joined Sam Levy, Accountability Framework initiative (AFi), Shelley Vinyard, Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), Oda Almas Smith, Forest Peoples Programme, and John Davies, Trellis to unpack what holistic practices now look like.
