Our Expertise: Nature and biodiversity strategies

The Need for Action

According to the World Economic Forum, “44 trillion of economic value generation – more than half of the world’s total GDP – is moderately or highly dependent on nature and its services and is therefore exposed to nature loss.” The UN Convention on Biological Diversity’s Global Biodiversity Framework, envisions that “by 2050, biodiversity is valued, conserved, restored and wisely used, maintaining ecosystem services, sustaining a healthy planet, and delivering benefits essential for all people.” As a result, businesses need to understand their impacts on nature, and start to take appropriate action to avoid, reduce, restore, regenerate, and transform these impacts.

Our Approach

As with many sustainability efforts, it is important to explore, define, and activate solutions and with biodiversity and nature, our team can help companies at any point on this journey. This may begin by assessing value chain impacts on nature and identifying hotspots and improvement opportunities for biodiversity. We can also help companies looking to follow the Science Based Targets Network approach to setting meaningful nature goals. Our team has helped create and implement exciting projects to protect, restore, and enhance nature, such as regenerative agriculture and non-profit partnerships.
