Matt Kopac is a Senior Sustainability Advisor for Pure Strategies. In this role, Matt is developing and executing sustainability strategies for corporate clients in retail, personal care, cosmetics and food industries with a focus on circularity, responsible sourcing, decarbonization, GHG and plastic accounting, and product transparency and sustainability.
Prior to Pure Strategies, Matt led strategy and operations for responsible sourcing, sustainable packaging, and climate action as Director, Sustainability for Beautycounter. He worked to revamp the company’s sourcing strategy and oversaw audits of the brand’s mica and palm oil supply chains for human rights, labor, the environment, and traceability. Matt also achieved RSPO certification for over 100 products and updated the brand's packaging supplier guidelines for material health, while influencing product briefs to align with packaging goals for reuse, recycled content, and recyclability.
Prior to Beautycounter, Matt worked for Burt’s Bees as the Associate Director, Sustainability and as Vice President of The Burt’s Bees Foundation. He developed and led sustainability strategy covering product innovation, climate, and waste, spearheaded the company’s first reusable packaging initiatives, reduced the company’s virgin packaging footprint, and launched a market-leading initiative to invest in the recovery and recycling of plastic waste from the environment while supporting living wage work.
