Lou Tarricone works with organizations to reduce the environmental footprints of their supply chain, operations and products, and to integrate environmental sustainability into their corporate strategy. This includes developing carbon footprint and carbon tax strategies.
Lou has worked extensively with a major global retailer in assessing and driving improvements in environmental and social sustainability into their supply chain, and has assisted companies in the apparel, consumer products, and food industries on strategies for responding to their customers’ sustainability surveys. Lou has performed product Life Cycle Assessment activities in the food, cleaning products, personal care, and sporting goods industries. Recent clients include Walmart, Ben & Jerry’s, VF Corporation, Radio Flyer, Seventh Generation, Ocean Spray, and Annie's.
Lou is registered by The Sustainability Consortium as a TSC Service Provider, having received TSC training in providing tools and services to the consumer goods industry and to retailers. Lou is qualified to assist with the full complement of TSC tool kits and has experience working with retailers and their suppliers in analyzing results as well as preparing responses, engaging supply chains and planning improvements.
Lou has over twenty years of experience in engineering, management, and technology consulting. Prior to joining Pure Strategies, Lou was a leader in a large corporate sustainability initiative, assisting in the design of U.S. energy audit procedures, and leading energy conservation and recycling efforts for the New England business unit.
Lou has developed and implemented plans to reduce energy consumption in manufacturing facilities, including the implementation of an automated HVAC system for a 1.1 million square foot manufacturing facility, saving over 20% in energy usage. In addition, Lou has participated in the management and design of a LEED Gold office renovation on a former brownfield site and has led technology-consulting projects across multiple industries, including a third-party vendor assessment for a Fortune 500 corporation.
Lou holds a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, with thesis work in real-time control of semiconductor manufacturing, and a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with a concentration in Electrical Engineering from Kettering University.
