Future Leaders in Corporate Sustainability: Mentoring Program
About Us
Pure Strategies works to transform business for a more sustainable future. As a leading sustainability consulting firm and certified B Corporation, we work to empower our clients, our staff, and our peers to take meaningful action to address critical environmental and social challenges, including climate change, nature loss, and social inequality.
The Opportunity
Our Future Leaders in Corporate Sustainability Mentoring Program is an opportunity for Pure Strategies to support rising professionals, especially those with identities underrepresented in corporate sustainability. Mentees participate in a four-month-long formal mentoring program designed to support their careers in the field of corporate sustainability. The program will begin in January and end in April. During this period, mentees will be matched with a Pure Strategies staff member as a mentor for regular discussions and coaching. Based on the mentee’s interests, the Pure Strategies mentor will also coordinate additional interactions with other professionals in the field, tailored learning opportunities, and peer-to-peer connections.
FAQs
- Who can apply? Students (undergraduate seniors or graduate students), recent graduates, and early-stage professionals that are interested in a career in corporate sustainability. While this mentoring program is open to all applicants, those from historically black colleges and universities and people with identities underrepresented in the field of corporate sustainability are encouraged to apply*.
- What is the time commitment? Meetings will be 45-60 minutes every month during regular business hours in the Eastern time zone. Completion of the entire mentoring program is expected (January through April).
- Are in-person meetings expected? No, the experiences will be managed through web-based meetings.
- How is this different than an internship? The mentorship program is designed to be a coaching and professional development experience informed by the interests of the mentee, rather than a project-based or hands-on learning experience, like an internship would be. This is a voluntary mentoring program that is unpaid.
- Who gets the most value from this program? We have found that mentees who get the most out of this experience are in periods of professional transition and looking for insights that will inform their career path. For example, for those starting or considering a graduate program in corporate sustainability; considering a shift in focus in their professional roles; working to define their niche or interest within the field of corporate sustainability.
* Pure Strategies is committed to advance equality and economic opportunity for all individuals, regardless of race, creed, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, genetics, age, veteran status, or disability status.
